My father-in-law James and I headed to Texas with no expectations of 5F Ranch. It's a good thing, since it was much more than we imagined. Pattii was my guide and we had the luck of taking the exact class deer on the first day, therefore I had the pleasure of sitting back and watching their first class plots and property for the next couple of days. The deer are beautifully managed as well was the experience, and I thank the whole crew for it. Lane had the wonderful experience of working with my father-in-law, and in that, Lane and James both learned a lot, which also turned out successful. Lane learned a very valuable skill set, and my hat is off to you, seriously, if you know what I mean. Great place, great people, great food, and great job Lane......Thanks again,

From the moment I entered the front gate at the 5F Ranch, to the moment I left, I was treated like part of the family. Lane and Pattii Laning could not have been better hosts. The lodge(wow), the food(excellent), and the hunting(world class). I hunted for three days with Lane, and I ate like a king (thanks to Pattii). The deer hunting and farm are more than I ever expected. I took a trophy whitetail buck (my first) and an Indian blackbuck. I look forward to my next hunt at the 5F ranch in the fall, and will bring my son along to kill his first buck. All I can say is give Lane a call. You will not regret it, and I promise you will leave with a smile on your face and an adventure of a lifetime.

First of all, Lane and his wife Pattii are two of the finest people I have ever met. We started a friendship a couple years ago when the ranch sponsored my NASCAR truck at Texas Motor Speedway. Lane and Patti kept trying to get me to the make the trip to hunt at 5F, and I finally made the time to check it out in November. We started the morning out before daylight in a stand waiting for that trophy buck to come in. In the morning, the only thing that passed our way were some Texas Dall Sheep. They were really pretty with huge horns, so Lane asked if I would like to get a sheep during my hunt. Five minutes later I had a beautiful longhorn laying on the ground. With the morning starting out like this, I knew this would be a great trip. Off we went again looking for that giant trophy buck – after hunting hard, rattling, and walking a lot – that big buck kept outsmarting us. But Lane being as passionate as he is about the hunt, never gave up. We stopped and ate lunch and did some shooting at the range, then continued the hunt. It seemed like no time at all that the day was almost gone and nightfall was coming, so we went back to a different stand hoping that big buck would come into a clearing. Sure enough, right before dark - 3 does and a monster 15pt trophy buck (that ended up scoring 192)came walking out of the woods. 300 yards away I wanted to take the shot – Lane convinced me to be patient and I ended up with the nicest deer I have ever killed. I can absolutely not wait to go back – it was my best hunting experience ever. Not to mention the amazing accommodations and meals – it was more than a hunt – it was a mini-vacation, which I needed in the middle of a hectic race season.

The operators and their staff are as hunting savvy and helpful as you can find, and the deer-WOW. The most well managed whitetail ranch we've ever hunted: and we hunt for a living!!

The luxury of the lodge was beyond words...the ranch managers, Lane and Pattii, made us feel like old friends down for the weekend right from the start ...the ranch and animals were second to NONE...Angie's food was five-star delicious it was truly a hunt of a lifetime for all of us!!!

The 5F Game Ranch has the biggest bucks in the state. With great food, great hospitality and great hunting...the 5F Game Ranch has it all. I had a great time on my hunt and took a wonderful trophy while hunting with Lane and Pattii. I will definitly be back!!
